While this is Erick’s first year teaching at TacCon, he’s been an instructor at Gunsite since 2001, where he teaches handgun, shotgun, carbine, pistol mounted optics, and tactics. He retired from a large California sheriff’s office, as a patrol sergeant, after twenty-nine years; while there, he also worked in the use of force/firearms and field training programs, gang violence suppression, and narcotics investigations. His military service includes deploying an infantry heavy weapons squad leader in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Erick earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Norwich University. His classes make a point of emphasizing both human factors and legal considerations. In addition to having re-written Gunsite’s student handbook for pistol classes, his articles have appeared in S.W.A.T., Soldier of Fortune, and T.T.P.O.A.’s Command magazines, as well as on ModernServiceWeapons.com. He formed Cougar Mountain Solutions to provide relevant end-user and instructor classes to vetted citizens, police, and service members.
